Over 250 Students of Bal Bharati Public School, Rohini interacted with students from a government school in Kagoshima prefecture, Japan in December 2023.
In this program, the students learned about Japanese lifestyle and customs by watching videos made by Japanese students, and then took part in a global quiz competition where they tried questions created by the teachers and asked questions each other. The Global Quiz Competition enabled “international exchange with all participants”. It became an unforgettable experience that transcended the language barrier and motivated over 500 students in both countries.
We are pleased that we were able to create a global and holistic learning experience with the cooperation of teachers from both India and Japan.
<Comments from Bal Bharati Public School, Rohini students>
- There was so much excitement in the class during the quiz of whether our answers were right or wrong. The spirit of competition between two countries was no doubt the initial driving force for all of us to start researching but later on it became so fascinating to me that the competition got sidelined in my perspective and what was left was the interest for knowing different cultures.
- Even now I can’t stop finding and researching more about different countries.
- It was one of the best experiences of my life, I never expected this quiz to come out this great. The quiz, meeting Japanese people was so fun. I learned about the culture of Japan and various things about the people also.
- Indeed it was a very informative experience while preparing for and even during the quiz session. Japan has a very surprising and unusual culture, that is different from the west just like the Indian culture. I found that there are many similarities between Japanese and Indian traditions like the practice of not shaking hands but bowing instead and having deep respect for the people around.
