Uttam School For Girls has been engaged in a continuous and enriching exchange program with Toshimagoaka Joshigakuen Junior & Senior High School, a prestigious girls school in Japan since 2022.
As part of this initiative, they welcomed Japanese students to their school once again in 2024. We, Shin Edupower Pvt. Ltd., has been coordinating the collaboration of these two prestigious girls schools since 2022. This collaboration has deepened cross-cultural understanding and provided invaluable learning experiences for both Indian and Japanese students.
The program extended beyond just one-time exchange. Online sessions, collaborative projects, and reciprocal visits further has been strengthening the bond between the two institutions, creating a dynamic and immersive international learning environment for their students.
An Enriching Study Tour Experience
In 2024, students from Uttam School for Girls embarked on their first educational trip to Japan, organized by our team. As part of their visit, they had the opportunity to experience daily life at a Japanese girls’ school and deepen their understanding of Japanese culture and traditions through various activities alongside local students. They also delivered an impressive presentation in front of Japanese students and parents. This remarkable visit was even featured in several well-known Japanese newspapers.

During this year’s study tour from Japan, Japanese students and Indian buddy students participated in various cultural exchange activities, as well as visit to Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and a startup company.
Uttam School for Girls provided Japanese students with an immersive linguistic and cultural experience. Each Japanese student was paired with an Indian student as a “buddy” and warmly welcomed into their host family. The genuine hospitality and enthusiasm of the Indian students and their families played a vital role in making the visit both comfortable and unforgettable. Moreover, Indian host parents and students expressed that the experience was deeply meaningful and enriched their own learning as well.
Despite differences in cultural backgrounds, the students found common ground as young learners at girls’ schools, forging deep friendships in a short period. Many participants remarked that this exchange fostered relationships far beyond those formed in typical overseas study programs. The emotional farewell at the end of the tour, marked by tears and heartfelt goodbyes, was a testament to the strong bonds that had been created.
Academically, the students presented their independent research projects in English, an exercise that tested their analytical and communication skills. Japanese students were particularly inspired by the presentations of Indian students, whose research projects often extended beyond theoretical exploration to real-world applications with tangible social impact. This exposure encouraged them to rethink their own approaches to academic inquiry.
A Platform for Continuous Growth
Even though students learn a lot of things by hosting Japanese students or visiting Japan, we understand that a single visit may not be enough to create lasting change. Recognizing this, there are ongoing opportunities to interact with Japan through various programs. This ensures that the impact of the exchange extends beyond the duration of the tour, allowing students to continuously develop their global awareness and cross-cultural communication skills.
One such initiative is the Japan-India Global Collaboration Program, where middle school students from Japan work together with our students on joint projects using English as a medium of communication. In 2024, over 100 students from both India and Japan participated in this program, demonstrating their growth in both language proficiency and international collaboration.
Furthermore, students have actively participated in events such as the science contest held by the Japanese school. The two schools have also established a opportunity of annual presentation exchanges, ensuring that students from both countries continue to learn from each other.
A significant milestone this year was the initiation of Indian students’ visits to Japan, adding another dimension to the exchange. Many of the host students of the study tour from Japan having met Japanese students through previous online programs or educational tour to Japan. This multi-faceted engagement has fostered deeper relationships, enabling both Indian and Japanese students to maintain their friendships and continue learning from each other long after the tours conclude.
Through the collaboration with Uttam School For Girls, we have cultivated an environment where students from both countries inspire and challenge each other. This collaboration not only enhances their academic and cultural knowledge but also instills valuable skills for navigating an increasingly interconnected world. We look forward to support continuing this journey of mutual learning and growth for many years to come.
